San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) April 30, 2012

Hipmunk, the travel site removing the agony from travel planning, today announced a partnership with United Airlines (NYSE: UAL) allowing Hipmunk users to book United flights directly through united.com. Travelers could previously search for and find United flights on Hipmunk.com and through the Hipmunk iOS and Android mobile applications, but were directed to third party sites to book. With this partnership, once a flight is selected using Hipmunk, the user will be directed to United.com to book the flight.

“Hipmunk and United will work together on innovative merchandising and promotional programs designed to maximize exposure and grow revenue. Travelers searching on Hipmunk will have access to United’s unmatched global route network with the best selection of airfares available and all ancillary product offerings by linking directly to united.com,” said Chris Amenechi, United Airlines vice president of ecommerce and merchandising. “Partnering with Hipmunk is key to reaching a large audience of leisure travelers across the US.”

Hipmunk and United will celebrate the partnership by hosting a photo contest on Hipmunk’s Facebook page. Beginning April 30, 2012 and running through May 18, 2012 fans will be given four chances to win a voucher for two round-trip tickets for travel on United to a secret destination. During the contest period, Hipmunk will publish four postcards of the Hipmunk in the secret destination. To participate, users must comment on one of the pictures with the name of the destination. Hipmunk will randomly select one winner from those who correctly respond.

“With over 370 destinations and an average of 5,600 flights daily, our partnership with United is an important step in continuing to offer the widest breadth of flight options for domestic and international travelers,” said Adam Goldstein, CEO of Hipmunk. “And in the tradition of infusing the travel planning experience with ecstasy, we’re thrilled to be able to make one person’s travel dream come true by awarding them with a free trip.”
